Invitation to press conference: EEMDG conference at the Museum der Kulturen in Basel

Basel (ots) - The annual meeting of the directors of Europe's largest ethnology museums will take place in Basel, Switzerland from 20 to 22 September 2012.

The EEMDG conference (European Ethnology Museums Directors Group) brings together the 'heavy weights' among Europe's ethnologists to discuss current issues, trends and future demands on their museums.

Four representatives of the EEMDG conference will gladly present the results of the debate to participants during a press conference.

This will take place on:

Anna Schmid, Director of the Museum der Kulturen in Basel 
Steven Engelsman, Director of the Museum of Ethnology, Vienna 
Klaus Schneider, Director of the Rautenstrauch-Joest-Museum, Cologne 

The panel discussion will focus on: The reorientation and reconception of ethnology museums, as well as the effects of the European economic crisis on the orientation and market strategies of museums.
