Hamburg, 28 July 2009. According to initial
calculations, REpower Systems AG (Prime Standard, WKN 617 703)
generated a total operating performance of EUR 287.1 million in the
first three months of fiscal year 2009/10, compared with a total
operating performance of EUR 240.9 million in the same period of the
previous year. Sales increased year-on-year from EUR 231.8 million to
EUR 300.7 million. Earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) for the
period from April to June 2009 totaled EUR 10.7 million compared with
EUR 10.2 million in the previous year.
In the first three months of fiscal year 2009/10, REpower Systems AG
installed and recognized in sales a total of 83 wind turbines with a
rated output of 170.0 MW (previous year: 138 turbines with 276.0 MW).
As at the reporting date, the order backlog amounted to 574 wind
turbines (previous year: 718 turbines) with a total rated output of
1,230.45 MW (previous year: 1,522.6 MW). The contractually confirmed
order volume totaled EUR 1.45 billion as at the reporting date (30
June 2008: EUR 1.61 billion).
In addition, REpower Systems AG concluded new supply contracts for a
total of 61.5 MW through its overseas branches:
REpower S.A.S., the French subsidiary of REpower Systems AG, has
signed a supply contract for a total of 17 REpower MM92 (34.85 MW)
wind turbines with Brandenburg-based planning and development company
Energiequelle GmbH. The turbines are intended for three projects in
the French departments Meuse, Meurthe-et-Moselle and Loire Atlantique
and are to be delivered in the beginning of 2010.
Furthermore, REpower UK Ltd, the Edinburgh-based British subsidiary
of REpower Systems AG, has secured a contract to deliver and install
13 REpower MM82 (26.65 MW) wind turbines for a planned wind farm in
Scotland.
Against the background of the uncertain global economic situation,
REpower had already pointed out increased risks regarding project
delays, some of which occurred in Q1 in the form of postponements
from the first half of the year to the second. In the event of
further project delays, the company believes that an impact on future
performance in fiscal year 2009/10 is possible, with the result that
sales and earnings are likely to be at the lower end of the forecast
as things stand. REpower had envisaged sales of EUR 1.4 billion to
EUR 1.5 billion and an EBIT margin of 7.5 to 8.5 percent for the
fiscal year.
A telephone conference for analysts and journalists to discuss the
interim Group figures for Q1 2009/10 will take place at 10.30 a.m.
(CET) today. The access number is +49 (0)69 247 501-891. The
telephone conference will be held in English.
An accompanying presentation on the telephone conference will be
available on the REpower homepage (www.repower.de) on July 28, 2009.
A record of the telephone conference will also be provided at
www.repower.de after the event.
Publication of the final results and the complete quarterly report is
scheduled for August 13, 2008.
