with EUR 1.9 million, and the operating result (EBIT) amounted to EUR

feratel develops innovative products for the tourism and advertising
industries in three core areas: Telecommunications, Information and
Reservation Systems, and Media. It is still unclear to what extent
tourism and advertising will be impacted by the effects of the
recession and business developments will suffer in the medium term.
In the period under report the company again made its mark with its
new Deskline 3.0 database, the outdoor information terminals that are
always a big export item (this time to Greece, Germany, Switzerland,
the Netherlands and Italy), orders for two big visitor card projects
in Montafon and Leogang / Saalfelden (IRS Division), further
extensions to the company's Europe-wide network of panoramic cameras
in Austria, Switzerland and Slovakia (Telecommunications Division),
and additions to the Media Division's product portfolio in the form
of a car-park routing system and lift access gate. As a result,
feratel was once again able to maintain its role as a leading
developer and provider of tourism information systems and innovative
advertising media on the international market.
Outlook
The uncertainty confronting the tourism industry was very much
evident at the ITB, the world's biggest tourism trade show, which
took place in Berlin in mid- March. Industry predictions for 2009
were more than restrained. "The crisis as an opportunity" - that was
the tenor of several of the press conferences held there. Specific
demand in tourism, which is influenced by available income, the
households' travel budgets and consumer confidence, will vary from
country to country and from region to region depending on the state
of the local economy and labor market as well as on consumer
confidence. Destinations with a good price/performance ratio will
definitely have an advantage. "The quality of the available
information, advice and service will have an even more important
function in the future and will often prove decisive. In this
context, feratel offers the tourism industry a wide range of
efficient tools, but at the present moment it is hard to predict the
extent to which the industry will continue to make use of such tools
and thus generate demand for feratel's products and services. At all
events, a certain slackening in demand must be expected. And in
addition to tourism, advertising is another field of business for
feratel media technologies AG that is affected by today's difficult
economic situation, and companies can be expected to take an even
more critical view of their budgets and future communications
investments," says CEO Dr. Markus Schröcksnadel with regard to
current prospects.

life of intangible assets as identified from the amount of the
difference was adjusted. This method has been employed unchanged but
has not been applied to the figures for the same period of the
previous year. Had it been employed for the first three quarters of
2007/2008, depreciation would have been lower by TEUR 338.0.
