ICS Copper Systems Ltd Commences Drilling of the Mokambo Mine, Copperbelt District, Republic of Zambia

ICS COPPER SYSTEMS LTD. (ICX:TSX.V) is pleased to announce that the 2007 Oxide copper drilling program is underway at the Mokambo Mine, 15 kilometers northeast of Mufulira in the famous Copperbelt District of the Republic of Zambia.
The Mokambo Mine is under a joint venture agreement between ICS Copper Systems Ltd. (the operator) and North Western Plant Hire Ltd (a private Zambian company). The 2007 drill program, expected to extend over 6 months, will delineate the oxide copper mineralized cap that is prevalent in all the Copperbelt mines. The oxide cap at the Mokambo Mine has not been defined by drilling. The main lithologic sequence to be explored under the current drill program will be the Lower Roan Series rocks. These rocks historically have hosted the majority of the copper in the mines throughout the Copperbelt. The secondary focus will be the Upper Roan Series rocks. It is known that this stratigraphic unit, in the Mufulira Syncline, contains cobalt mineralization.
An estimated 10,300 meters of NWT and BWT sizes of core will be drilled in approximately 115 shallow (100 meters) holes over the entire length of the concession. The flooded 1975 exploration shaft will supply water for the drill and for domestic use. The shaft will eventually be pumped out and utilized as an escapeway and ventilation shaft when the sulphide copper mineralization is mined using underground mining methods.
After the near surface mineralization is defined, and tonnages and grades are confirmed, it will be extracted by the open pit method and metallurgically treated using EMEW electrowinning technology which has been successfully demonstrated by ICS in the Democratic Republic of Congo over the last two years.
