Annual Reports
Nuremberg, July 30, 2010
TA Triumph-Adler Group revenue in the first quarter of the 2010/2011
financial year of EUR75.9 million was 14.1% higher compared with the
three months of the abbreviated financial year as of March 31, 2010,
when EUR66.5 million was turned over. Revenue was also 8.6% higher
than in the comparable period of the previous year, according to the
Quarterly report which was published by the company today.
The Distribution segment which sells machines to specialist dealers
both in Germany and abroad increased sales revenues by over 40% from
EUR12.5 million to EUR18,0 million. This segment experienced
particularly strong demand from international markets, boosting
exportation by more than 50% compared to the previous year's level.
The Direct Sales segment achieved revenue of EUR57.9 million in the
first three months, EUR0.5 million more than from April to June 2009.
This also shows that other revenues (services and consumables)
reported relatively weaker growth, which also had an unfavorable
impact on the earnings side.
The materials expense reported disproportionately high growth of
15.4% compared with the comparable quarter of the previous year,
rising to EUR50.1 million. The gross profit margin (calculated as
revenue minus materials expense, expressed as a percentage of
revenue) was 34.0% in the quarter. As a consequence, this important
indicator was again lower than in the previous year; it increased,
however, by 8.3% compared with the three months of the abbreviated
financial year.
In the first quarter accounting errors were discovered at our
subsidiary TA Triumph-Adler Corporate Consulting GmbH resulting from
deliberate manipulations by this company's management. TA
Triumph-Adler parted company with one managing director and further
management staff of this subsidiary. The resulting partial
reconstruction work in the key account area which was started
immediately affects Group earnings. According to the Quarterly Report
it had a negative impact on first-quarter earnings, and will also
burden the entire 2010/2011 financial year.
The pre-tax result in the first quarter of 2010/2011 of minus EUR3.3
million, therefore, was negative again. This amounted to minus EUR2.7
million in the comparable prior-year period, and to minus EUR8.5
million in the abbreviated financial year from January 1 to March 31,
2010.
Machine shipments in the first quarter of 2010/2011 rose by around 7%
compared with the three months of the 2010 abbreviated financial
year, to more than 23,450 machines. Shipments were even up by more
than 50% compared with the prior-year comparable period (April - June
2009). Printers' share of total shipments declined to around 44% due
to higher demand in the copier area. The proprietary brand share
within Direct Sales rose to 86.7%.
A total of 1,233 employees were active in the companies of the TA
Triumph-Adler Group as of the June 30, 2010 reporting date (June 30,
2009: 1,304; March 31, 2010: 1,234).
