Schaffner Group strengthens its position in the power quality sector: Acquisition of JACKE Transformatoren GmbH enhances global growth potential

Luterbach (ots)

The Schaffner Group (SWX Swiss Exchange: SAHN)
is acquiring JACKE Transformatoren GmbH (www.jacke-trafo.de). The
integration will expand the Schaffner Group's EMC competence to
include Jacke power quality technology. By acquiring Jacke, Schaffner
becomes the first global company to offer integrated EMC, power
quality and energy supply solutions for systems and equipment. The
Schaffner Group expects that the integration of Jacke will generate
sales of around CHF 17 million in fiscal year 2006-2007 and will have
a neutral effect on the EBIT margin. It was agreed that the purchase
price would not be disclosed.
The combination of Schaffner's EMC expertise and Jacke's power
quality competence creates the basis for developing innovative
products that will enhance not only the operating safety and
efficiency of electrical and electronic systems but also their
productivity and profitability. Moreover, the international
organization of the Schaffner Group makes it possible to provide both
customer-specific engineering and production in compliance with all
the major quality and performance standards on a worldwide basis
while still maintaining the company's strategic focus.
Schaffner Jacke GmbH has engineering and production capacities in
Büren, Germany, and will continue to be led by the hitherto
management team. With its concentration on rail vehicle technology,
wind power, navigation, telecommunications and transformer
engineering, it will be integrated in the Schaffner Group's
international Components Division.
