World's Best Portable Wine Guide Just Got Better - PDA Sommelier Release 2.2 Expands Wine Database in Time for Holiday Shopping Seaso

Lansdale, PA (ots)

A happy holiday is in store for wine lovers
worldwide as PDA Sommelier, the world's most comprehensive PDA-based
wine guide, announces the addition of some 20,000 new wines, bringing
its total to 53,000.
PDA Sommelier, (www.pdasommelier.com), is a compilation of wine
rankings and food/wine pairings distilled from numerous on- and off-
line resources. The wine additions constitute a 60 percent increase
over the total number of rated wines included in Release 1.0. PDA
Sommelier Release 2.2 is compatible with most hand-held devices --
including those running the latest Palm OS and the Pocket PC 2003
operating systems.
"Release 2.2 represents the most comprehensive database of wine
ratings in the marketplace today," said Charles Gill, who created PDA
Sommelier with PA-based tech firm iConcepts. "With more than 50,000
wines from recent vintages, PDA Sommelier covers virtually any
premium wine a consumer would find on a store shelf or restaurant
wine list."
A veteran of the wine industry, Gill drew his inspiration for the
creation of PDA Sommelier from 25 years of experience in wine
production, sales and brand management.
"Over the years it has become nearly impossible to stay abreast of
new wines, new producers, and emerging wine regions in the rapidly
expanding fine wine market," said Gill. "PDA Sommelier alleviates the
intimidation an average consumer may experience when choosing a wine
in a restaurant or store and greatly reduces the frequency of bad
guesses."
Wine enthusiasts can deploy PDA Sommelier's 'Wine Search' function
to obtain wine ratings by country of origin, region, and producer.
The 'Vintage Chart' feature rates overall vintage quality for most of
the world's prominent wine regions, while the 'Best Producers' and
'Best Values' listings reveal the finest wineries and best deals for
specific varieties and appellations. A 'Food /Wine Pairing' feature
suggests appropriate wine matches for an array of 130 food types.
PDA Sommelier retails for $29.95 and was a finalist in Pocket PC
Magazine's Annual Software Awards in 2002 and 2003. It may be
purchased by download at www.pdasommelier.com where it may be sent as
a gift with an electronic greeting card. PDA Sommelier may also be
purchased at www.pocketgear.com and www.handango.com. Free quarterly
data updates are provided for one year after the date of purchase.
