Mobile Payment Forum Offers Public Educational Seminar in Conjunction With 2003 Spring Plenary: Seminar Will Include Keynote Speaker Ed Kountz of Tower Group

WAKEFIELD, MA (ots)

The Mobile Payment Forum today announced its
first public educational seminar, to be held on March 26, 2003, in
Dublin, Ireland. Open to non-members, the Mobile Payment Seminar will
include a presentation by keynote speaker Ed Kountz, Senior Analyst
for Emerging Technology Solutions, Tower Group, entitled, "The Future
of Consumer Payments -- Trends, Issues and Opportunities in the Move
to Mobile Payments." The Mobile Payment Forum is the only global,
cross-industry alliance of leading organizations from the mobile and
financial industries dedicated to the advancement of mobile (m)
commerce.
The one-day public seminar will be held in conjunction with the
Mobile Payment Forum's Plenary Session, which is the organization's
semi-annual members meeting, to be held March 26-27. During the
meeting, Forum leaders will detail the organization's milestones and
recent developments, discuss strategic priorities, announce the 2003
Board of Directors, and hold in-depth working group sessions for
members to contribute to current and future activities.
"With our strong membership of global leaders from the mobile and
financial industries -- including handset manufacturers, payment
companies, mobile operators and technology companies -- the Forum is
well positioned to carry out its mission of developing a foundation
for secure mobile payments," said Simon Pugh, co-president, Mobile
Payment Forum. "Holding our first public seminar is an important step
toward our goal of educating the marketplace, as we continue to
address the challenges and opportunities facing the industry."
Guest speakers at the Forum's public seminar, which is being co-
sponsored by Network365, include welcoming remarks from Ireland's
Tanaiste (Deputy Prime Minister) Mary Harney, Minister for
Enterprise, Trade and Employment, and a representative from the
European Union Commission, offering a presentation entitled, "An
Overview of the EU Blueprint for Mobile Payments: Paving the Way for
Efficient Mobile Commerce."
Other highlights of the seminar include an overview of the Forum's
work and use case examples in the areas of two-way messaging, 3rd
party authentication, wallet-form fill, personalization, and digital
transaction records, and a presentation on the critical role of
cooperation with other industry organizations.
Registration for the Mobile Payment Forum's public seminar is $195
(U.S.) and includes the one-day seminar, continental breakfast, lunch
and a joint networking reception for members and non-members
following the event. The seminar will be held at the Alexander Hotel
