follows: “We are delighted that, in Jürgen Herbott, we have won a
very experienced manager from the IT industry for the management team
of Beta Systems, someone who will be able to significantly strengthen
the company in its new phase, following the sale of the ECM
business.” Jürgen Herbott, the new Chief Executive Officer, added: “I
am delighted to be able to contribute my know-how and experience to a
company which is as well positioned as Beta Systems and to support it
in the implementation of its Buy & Build innovation strategy. With
its high-end solutions in the IT infrastructure business, Beta
Systems occupies an excellent position in the market and has a large
number of renowned companies as its long-standing customers. This is
a very good platform for expanding the company’s position as one of
the few independent mid-sized software and technology suppliers in
Europe in this segment, both in the domestic and international arena.
Background information on Jürgen Herbott Jürgen Herbott, who is 51
and holds a degree in business administration, began his career as a
system consultant at IBM specialized in mainframe technology and
subsequently assumed responsibility for sales to major IBM customers
in the civil service sector. Following a short period when he worked
in the Management Support Team, specifically in the introduction of
new software license agreements at IBM, Jürgen Herbott took his first
job in management as sales manager and then as branch manager for IBM
in Saarbruecken. Following the implementation of a sector-oriented
sales organization at IBM, he became division director and, as such,
was responsible for all activities of IBM in the utility companies
industry in Central Europe. In the wake of IBM’s acquisition of
system management specialist Tivoli Systems, he was entrusted with
building up and expanding this software business and, within a short
space of time, was successful in establishing Tivoli as a leading
system management solution for centralized and decentralized IT
structures in the market. Upon the takeover of Siebel Systems, a
company focusing on CRM (Customer Relationship Management), he gained
additional experience in application software and here also succeeded
in establishing the company as a market leader. Close cooperation
with the sales and marketing departments of Siebel customers gave him
the opportunity of familiarizing himself with different sales
structures and approaches. His next management position took him to
Hyperion Solutions, a leading supplier of BPM (Business Performance
Management) solutions supporting companies in defining, assessing and
implementing corporate strategies with the aid of software solutions.
These tasks also allowed him to gain insights into a wide variety of
management methodologies applied in numerous companies. Upon the
takeover of Hyperion by Oracle, he was put in charge of the
integration process of Hyperion into the business organization of
Oracle. Jürgen Herbott’s last position was at the retail specialist
company Torex Retail Solutions in Berlin where he held the position
of Vice President Central Europe responsible for all activities in
this area. The scope of his tasks encompassed also major software
development and support for the software solutions on offer.
