Zug, 17. February 2005: Alpine Select AG (the "Company" or "Alpine")
announces today that it has lead a group of shareholders to sell a
70.45% participation in the investment company EIC Electricity SA,
Geneva, for an aggregate consideration of CHF 16.7 million. The
purchaser, Gehold SA, Geneva, acquired from Alpine 1’076’112 shares
in EIC Electricity at CHF 15.50 a share. This represents a premium of
CHF 0.70 per share to the NAV of CHF 14.80 per share as reported on
16 February 2005.
As a consequence of this sale, Gehold SA is required to submit a
mandatory offer to all other sharehodlers for a consideration similar
to the one received by the Company.
