GateHouse Manages The Flow Of Shipping Traffic With Brooktrout's TR1000 Media Resource Platform
NEEDHAM, MA (ots) - Brooktrout Technology, Inc. a leading provider of innovative hardware and software platforms that enable applications for the New Network(tm), today announced that GateHouse A/S, an independent developer of technical software for the telecommunications and space industries, has developed a communications system using Brooktrout's TR1000(tm) media resource platform to manage the flow of shipping traffic along the Rhine, one of Europe's busiest rivers.
The ship-to-ship and ship-to-shore communications system consists of a ten-mile (16Km) long network of low-powered transmitters linked together by ISDN leased lines installed along the banks of the Rhine near Nijmegen. At the heart of the system is a digital switch powered by Brooktrout's TR1000 platform. The system automatically routes calls through the best available receiver and on to the radio operators. At each working position, the work channel is recorded and the audio files are accessible in near real-time. Traffic controllers can replay part of a call that might, for example, contain cargo data that they can then enter into the registration database.
Brooktrout's TR1000 is used to record voice messages that can be broadcast to all traffic or to the traffic in a particular river sector. The TR1000 media resource platform is full-featured with enhanced conferencing support and call control, plus the highest level of on-the-board echo cancellation available, which provides the system with clearer communications and recordings.

The TR1000 platform is an open systems, board-level platform for carrier-grade enhanced services applications. The TR1000 platform is available in a variety of configurations, ideally suited for advanced messaging, conferencing, speech recognition and fax applications.
