Annual revision completed - plant once more in operation

Following completion of the annual revision work, BKW Inc. has restarted operations at Mühleberg nuclear power plant. The revision work lasted from 11 August to 6 September 2013. During the revision work, the fuel elements were replaced and repeat test and maintenance work was carried out.
Key aspects of the 2013 annual revision were extensive repeat testing and inspections of the interior and exterior of the reactor pressure vessel as well as repeat revisions and tests carried out on safety and security systems, turbines and generators, electrical protection and control systems and on the transformers. Thirty six of the 240 fuel elements were replaced. All planned investments and maintenance work were successfully completed.
During the work the 340 BKW staff were assisted by some 700 external specialists from the region, elsewhere in Switzerland and abroad.
