Group Executive Board Suzanne Thoma new CEO of BKW Inc.

The Board of Directors of BKW Inc. has appointed Dr. Suzanne Thoma as the new CEO of BKW Inc. Effective 1 January 2013, she will take over as Chief Executive Officer of BKW from Kurt Rohrbach, who was elected as full-time second Vice Chairman at the Annual General Meeting on 11 May 2012.

Suzanne Thoma has been Head of the Networks Division and a member of the Group Executive Board since 1 August 2010. She drove forward the development of Switzerland's largest distribution grid with a view to addressing the related regulatory and economic challenges, further enhanced the division's efficiency, and promoted innovations in the field of smart technologies. She was also responsible for developing the BKW's two large service providers, Arnold AG and ISP AG.

Until 2009 Suzanne Thoma was Head of the Automotive Division of the WICOR Group in Rapperswil. Prior to this she was CEO of Rolic Technologies Ltd., a high-tech supplier in the electronics industry. For 12 years she worked in various functions and various countries for Ciba Spezialitätenchemie AG. Suzanne Thoma studied chemical engineering at the Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich, graduating with a Masters in Science and a Doctorate in Engineering, with post-graduate studies in business administration. She is 50 years old and has two grown-up daughters.

As second Vice President, Kurt Rohrbach brings to the Board of Directors the experience he acquired in his many years as CEO of BKW Inc., and in his capacity of President of the Association of Swiss Electricity Companies he will continue to advocate the interests of this important sector of the Swiss economy.
