BKW FMB Energy Ltd.
Acquisition of two wind farms in Germany

Bern (ots)

BKW FMB Energy Ltd. (BKW) is to acquire two wind farms, Holleben and Bippen, from Germany's leading wind project developer and wind farm operator wpd of Bremen. The two wind farms have a collective installed capacity of 53 Megawatts (MW). The acquisition expands BKW's foreign wind portfolio to 270 MW and strengthens its position in the field of wind power.

Holleben wind farm in Saxony-Anhalt has an installed capacity of 25.5 MW and has been connected to the grid since 2004/2005. The annual volume generated by the seventeen 1.5 MW-turbines is around 59 Gigawatt hours (GWh). The facility is located near BKW's Dubener Platte, Lüdersdorf-Parstein and Bockelwitz wind farms. Bippen wind farm in the German state of Lower Saxony has an installed capacity of 27.6 MW and has also been connected to the grid since 2004/2005. The twelve turbines generate 52 GWh of electricity a year and are recognised by the German Renewable Energies Law (REL). Compensatory feed-in remuneration is guaranteed up to and including 2024/2025. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price. The transaction is pending approval from the responsible German anti-trust authority.

By acquiring these two wind farms, BKW has expanded its position in Germany in the field of wind power. Following the 100% acquisition of six Italian wind farms with a collective capacity of 145 MW, BKW has also become an important wind farm operator in Italy this year. The annual production of wind power in Germany and Italy currently amounts to around 460 GWh.
